Hey howdy

I'm on DAY 1 of this challenge and figured the time was right to really focus and get things right. I kind of have to now. I was diagnosed last week as anemic and pre-diabetic, so I've gotta straighten up and kick this pig.

I've tried in the past, but somehow I've let every little thing distract me or take my focus away. I have a lot on my plate, but I'm also in the best position (now that things are clearing up a bit and I have some answers) to really do the best I can for myself and make positive, long-lasting changes. I'm tired of being too tired and at my highest weight ever. I know I'm not healthy and haven't been for a while, but I promised myself on my birthday that I would go to the doctor and learn how to take care of myself. 25 years of being overweight and obese is too dang much. I had a lot of excuses before as to why things were so bad (lack of opportunity, only a kid so I couldn't make healthier food, etc), but I'm much older and living by myself now, so from this point on, all I have to blame is myself for my lifestyle if I sit around and do nothing.

I'm reading up on how to deal with anemia and pre-diabetes, and the weather's nice enough that I've got some outside chores to do (windy as heck, but not cold--yet--and I've got some trees I need to finish planting. And thanks to Thanksgiving (when I was too tired to cook), I've got some meat to learn how to grill, and some grilled veggie recipes to try out.

Hoping for the best for all of us. Can't wait to see us all on the other side of it.

For more about me and/or all the weirdness that IS me, you can check out my blog at https://thechattyintrovert.com

Hello fellow Sparkers!

My name is Eris and I'm on day 3 of this challenge. I just realized the calendar challenges had forum boards, I had no idea! lol

I'm currently on a weight plateau but I'm trying to push through it. It's most important to me that I'm healthy and active, although my long-term goal is actually to strengthen and tone muscle. I'm coming out of a ridiculously sedentary lifestyle, so I'm trying to ease myself into strength training. So far it's going well.

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and can't wait to see what this challenge brings!

My name is Frankie and I'm not new to this site or challenge I have decided to start the challenge over and stay on track this time. I have two daughters that are very supportive and motivational help. I'm working on day 1 and setting my small goals. I think my first goal will be read my devotional every night and get up once a hour from my desk and take a walk.

Into week two. Getting more comfortable with learning everything. I was use to a less complex system and one team, but no communication. Log in food, exercise and water. Like this a lot better.

Hi! I'm coming back to sparkpeople, I've used it in the past and lost weight. Now, two babies later I need to get back on track and kick the baby weight, get healthy and teach my family healthy habits! I didn't get this weight in a day and it won't be gone in a day I just need some accountability so that I stick with it and don't just revert back to my old, unhealthy ways!

Hi I've also been with Spark for a long time. In the beginning I thought I would never leave Spark, I lost a lot of weight and Spark became revolving door and with each turn I gained back more weight. Starting over seems so daunting to me but this challenge seems less overwhelming for me.

I joined this Challenge because I need to be Realistic in setting and achieving my goals. Resolution - a noun -- the act of finding an answer to a conflict, problem, etc.: the act of resolving something.
Goal - noun -- something that you are trying to do or achieve.
By definition of these words I find this Challenge to be highly encouraging and helpful. Thanks SparkPeople!

Ask, and it shall be given to you;
Seek, and you shall find;
Knock, and it shall be opened unto you: Matthew 7:7

Now the Beroeans were more noble minded than those in Thessalonica, for they recieved the word with the greatest eagerness of mind, carefully examining the Scriptures daily as to whether these things were so. Act 17:11

I've been with SparkPeople a long time ~ too long not to have achieved maintenance by now. The trouble is that I keep going "AWOL" for weeks or months at a time.

So often when I've returned in the past & thought of the 101 things I did to achieve success I feel lost & defeated. This team/Challenge seems a good way to re*establish some basic habits while not feeling overwhelmed.

My prayer for myself AND all of you is that we may realize our goals.

I'm setting a goal of 5 pounds at a time, it sounds so much better than 50 and I'm not setting a time limit on that. I'm 63 and it seems that I don't lose a quickly as I used to.

I am hoping this challenge will help me set a realistic goal for my long term weight. I know I weighed in the 120s when I was 20, 130s when I was 30, 140s when was 40 and am now sitting in the 150s...But is 120 a realistic goal? My goal at this point is to get the scale moving in the other direction for a prolonged period of time. I am the queen of the 10 pound weight loss...unfortunately I gain those 10 back...I'd like to find a way to lose weight and keep it off...and guidance on how much would be realistic...

I am losing weight 10% at a time. I can do this!
Goal: 5 pounds a season.

My name is Elizabeth, for the past 10 years I have been trying to lose 20 lbs. It seems little compared to others, but it hasn't been easy for me. I have managed to lose 10 lb when I am very strict with writing down everything I eat, but as soon as I stop the weight creeps back up. My wish is to lose the pounds and not have to write down everything I eat in order to stick to my goal. emoticon

Hi, I am a 57 year old and as of today, I need to lose 55 lbs. I have been an on and off sparker for several years. I started Spark people because I was not wanting Bariatric Surgery. I started out at 233 lbs. I had lost my mother in 2005 from pancreatic cancer and had self medicated with food. I dropped 15 lbs in a month and my friends began to notice. My current weight is 195.

I have a tendency to not log my food when I eat to much and go over my caloric count and carbohydrates. My goal is to make my meals at home when possible, so I don't eat all those processed foods.

I walk at least 2000 steps per day using my Fitbit (which was the best 50.00 I ever spent). I had it programmed for more, but when I was pushing myself, I have had trouble with my heel. Now, I have to wait and see about surgery. emoticon

Hi all! My name is Christine, I'm 64 years old and have about 50 pounds to lose. I'm down 8 so far. I live alone with my 18 year old cat. I'm still working and get up at 5:00 am to be at work on time (I am NOT a morning person). I have to be pretty organized or else everything starts getting crazy. For a goal I want to dig in my yard at least 15 minutes a day, minimum 4 days a week.

I am 63,I am in maintenance,I lost 20 pounds ( it will be 1 year in November) and I hope to stay in my present rang of 100-105 pounds.
Right now I am doing my best to limit sugars,no junk foods because I realize I have been having sugar crashes. I had been so tired and I mean tired.
So far (after only 3 days) I have had a bit more energy and am really feeling a lot better.
I am on my second 30 days here and plan to eat right and walk 10,000 steps a day.
Plus I am a vegetarian and I am trying to go Vegan for at least these 21 days (using it as a start).
I hope to get healthier and look and feel better.

hello, this is my second go with SP. I am starting with small, realistic changes and goals and am finding the success at that is keeping me more motivated.I have 40 pounds to lose, but at this point I am focusing on action goals (exercise, drinking water) versus scale goals.

Hi. I have done this challenge before. Seems like they are not producing new ones. I can use a little help with consistency. I was assaulted in March by my husband. He resprained my knee. I was in physical therapy, but now am doing exercises at home. I do the exercises 4 days a week, but need to do them 7. I do leg lifts with ankle weights for 15 minutes and ride an exercise bike for 45.

On February 3rd will be my first anniversary of keeping 55 pounds off. I had no support from the Sparkpeoplecommunity. I made friends but they were not interested in helping me. My sisterwas very helpful as well as SparkRecipe.

Hi, I am new to the group but not to SP. I really really miss the short cut water tracker that used to be on the spin page. Sigh, just reminded of that on Day 2 during the water reminder. I'm doing pretty good, lost 50 pounds and then fell, then had the shingles on my face, my eye, and in my brain. I have only just started to regain my thought processes after a year and a half. I am proud that I stayed within 5 pounds during that year and half of not functioning let alone trying to keep the weight off. That means to me anyway, that some of the habits have actually become ingrained! I now have about another 100 pounds to take off. I kept up spinning the wheel as many days as I could while I was in bed so that probably helped too. I am 65, a retired senior. I live in the great white North. In northern Saskatchewan which if you are from the states - it takes me 6 1/2 hours to drive south to the North Dakota border. emoticon

Have an enjoyable day

My name is Patti and I am in my 60's. Married almost 35 years, with 2 adult kids and 1 grandkid. I am a Christian. Have been with Spark for a while now. I rarely join challenges - have trouble keeping the pace of day to day challenges going, but I wanted to utilize the calendar goals of this Challenge. My main focus for now is to get my exercise back and tracked. I used to be good at this until last Fall. I am pretty good about food tracking. I have had a weight gain and am pretty sure it is the exercise component.

Hi! I'm Jeannette, 68 years young, restarting, and hopefully making it to goal. I want to lose just 15-20 pounds but even that little is a struggle. I need all the help and encouragement I can get.

Hi I saw this challenge on one of my spark friend page and joined since I am having a hard time sticking to my calories range I feel this challenge would be a good challenge, for me to get back on track with my eating so I can reach my weight loss goal. I'm working out and tracking my meals been over my calories range for the first 2 days of the new year emoticon time to refocus and recommit emoticon .

I am 65, married, and have 5 fur babies (including my horse). I have been on SP since July 21 of 2014. I lost 37 pounds in the first six months just by eating right. I have slipped the past few months and have gained a bit. I hope to eat healthier this year. I need consistency in planning meals. I have arthritic thumbs, back and knees. I hope to learn to stay focused on my goals through this challenge! This is the second time I'm going through this challenge.

I am a 75 and continue to work part-time as freelance writer. I know that by losing this extra weight I will feel better physically as well as emotionally. I am looking forward to learning how to stay focused through this challenge.

We all support each other. I am trying to lose 80 to 90 pounds, since I have been
diagnosed with Chronic kidney Disease....the dr. advises me that will help me
immensely.

Tell us a little bit about your goals and what brought you here.

Hi - my name is Estela and I'm 55 married to a wonderful guy for 36 years with 3 adult children and 8 grandchildren. My goal this year is to start taking care of myself and lose about 90 pounds. I have spend my entire adult life taking care of children and neglected myself. I don't even know how to spent time on myself so this will be a new experience. My husband and I are empty nesters now and we're looking forward to living a different lift and picking up some hobbies.

Happy New Year everyone!
