Hello - new to the team but I've been on Spark for a long time. Struggling with addictive behavior around sugar, salt and butter...once I start, I can't stop! So one day at a time I'm hoping to replace the negative behaviors with something positive. Per the charts I should weigh at least 100 lbs less than I do now but I'll settle for losing half that, if possible. Not following any traditional programs though I have done WW several times with mixed results. The virus has me working from home with the help of 5 cats and two dogs...furry co-workers! Thanks for listening, hope you all have a great day!

emoticon Maribeth from St. Cloud, MN. Last Summer I was at my lowest weight. It was fun to wear all the short clothes I kept. Pulling jeans off the rack at Savers (donation store) that fit nicely. Gained back 30 pounds so fast Nov. - Jan. I joined WW and swam more at the Ymca.
Now, everything is on hold and so is my weight. I want to get back into my shorts! Tracking is key, but I get distracted every evening by the corona news. Staying away from news and starting new routines. Tracking in the evening emoticon emoticon

Hi I'm Liz. I had very good health until 4 years ago now I have the medical issues of type 2 diabetes, nerve damage, and balance problems. I love walking and went from 1-2 hour daily walks 4 years ago to 15-30 minute daily walks now. I use a Fitbit which helps me get in some steps not the amount I did 4 years ago but my daily goal is 3000 steps a day due to some weakness in legs. Walking is helping so I increase the amount of my daily goal steps every 2-3 months as my legs get stronger. Glad to be a part of the group.

This time around instead of following some diet I am eating what I like using Sparks outline. I track everything that goes into my mouth. It took time but I did it without feeling deprived.

Hello everyone, I am 51 I have been with Spark for a while but I have been away. I had wls in June of 2013. I lost 203 lbs after and was doing well then I gained over 30 and felt the old binging beast rearing her head again. I decided I had better get a grip and get busy. So here I am looking to support others and gain some support as well.

90% of reality, is what you CHOOSE to believe.

Today, I believe I am closer to reaching my goals each and every second!

Today, I believe that I deserve MORE!

Hi All,

I am Melissa, I am 26 and since starting my job I have gained an additional 25 pounds which leaves me needing to lose 50 lbs. I am really motivated to lose the weight once and for all by winter. I have a hard time staying on top of my goals as I don't have anyone to hold me accountable, but we press on. I wish each and everyone all the best with their own goals!!!

Hello Everyone, I joined your Team several days ago but I just saw this forum and thought I should write about myself. I just turned 80 years young. I've been following and using Spark for a few years now and lost 40 pounds. I am trying to get down to my goal weight but find it harder as I get closer to it. I have my limitations when it comes to exercising.

Hi, my name is Jean and I am 62 years old and need to lose weight. Have been on here off and on and could really use some friends to help me through this battle. Need to lose at least 52 pounds but my first goal is to get below 200. Anyway, hoping to make some friends. Good luck to everyone on their journey to a healthier, lighter lifestyle.

Hi, I go by Debbie, Deb, or DJ, depending on how many other Debbies there are on the team.

I am 58 and I've been on SparkPeople since May 2009. I have been overweight most of my life and I have been as high as 440. When I joined back in 2009, I was already working on my weight and started at 403. I lost 150 pounds over the course of the first year, and gained back most of them over the course of the second year, hitting 390. Since then I have bounced around in ranges. First it was 380-390 for a while. For the past year, or more, I've been going up and down between 362-377. I'm near the low end again but every time I get this low I start eating the wrong things for some "reason" and bounce back up again.

I really want to be at my goal weight before I am 60. I am running out of time to meet that. I always tell other people to take it one step at a time and when I saw this team I felt like it was calling me.

REJOINING: Over the last 10 years I've gained 127 lbs and now it's time for me to reclaim my body
in the healthiest way I can. I've struggled to lose the weight and would drop a few pounds
only to regain them plus a few extra pounds. But since Sept. 2014 I've been working to
help my hubby lose necessary pounds so his heart function will improve and although
I worked towards my own goals, it was never 100%. But since June 20th I've taken back control
of my own body and will be working to drop the weight I need to lose to be at my
healthiest. My goals are to be 220 lbs. or less by Jan. 1-2016; 180 lbs. or less by my 60th birthday
on Aug. 20-2016; and 140 lbs. by my 61st birthday on Aug. 20-2017.
If between now and then if I decide I've reached a size I know I can be comfortable
with for the rest of my life, then I'll work to maintain it instead of going lower.
I'm going to work to get in as much fruit and veggies as possible on a daily basis, and
really work to cut back on processed foods as much as possible.
Due to fluid retention, I need to try to keep my sodium under 1500 grams
as much as possible daily. This will be hard for me as I'm a salt-a-holic, but it has to
be done.
I will be working hard to get in as much exercise daily as I can. Some days I won't be able
to do a lot due to RA of the spine as well as sciatica, but I'll do as much as I can daily.

Hi spark family. My name is Naomi and I'm the mother of five.
I'm trying really hard to be around for my children and grandchildren.
I've lost 74 pounds since October 2013 and I have 70 to go.
I will admit it's getting harder and harder but I'm glad I have a place to go where people are dealing with the same issues that I am.

Hi Kathy and Kim,
I know where you are coming from. I lost 35 pounds and now put back on 10. It seems the more I try to lose, the more I gain. So, I joined sparks and hope this helps. Hopefully we will all learn together how to get this right.

Hi. My name is Francine and I joined Sparks about 2 months ago. I haven't really done well, but I am still trying.
Before I joined, I lost 35 pounds but then started to put it back on. First there was Christmas, then there was a cruise---I wasn't a very good girl.
So, after I joined I still gained some weight. Now I am trying to get back on track. I am a diabetic and will be going to classes after Easter and I hope that gets me back on track.
Today I read a motivational page here on Sparks that I plan to follow. So, that is my goal for the next 30 days +. It says that something that you do that is new takes any where from 21 to 40 days to become a habit.
So, I am going to try this with a few things at a time.

My name is Michelle. I'm new to this team, but not SparkPeople. I've been on SparkPeople off and on (more off) for a few years. I started back in December 2012, I did fairly well until March than quit walking and drinking plenty of water. To get to a healthy weight I should lose between 70 and 90 lbs. It is hard to get motivated when my boyfriend tells me he loves me the way I am. And others aren't supportive of me trying to eat healthy. I am a caretaker for my 92 year old mother.

3. Keeping fruit in bowls throughout my house
Lastly, Tracking my food calories with (wow....lots of work there, but gotta do it!) week one of SP Official 'Eat Up, Slim Down' Challenge

Re-introducing myself to those that don't know me...

I'm a 57 year old woman that has a total of 83 lbs to lose to reach a decent weight where I can possibly get off of blood pressure pills and also not hurt so much from RA of the spine. I've been told by my doctor that the less extra weight I'm carrying the less stress there will be on my joints. I don't expect to lose it fast. It took me 8 years to put on all the weight. My goal is to drop 2-4 lbs every month and keep it off til I reach my 83 lb goal.
I am married to Bob and he's just had to get a pacemaker/defibrullator in March 2013, and is still adjusting to having a very weak heart (20% heart strength), so I tend to stress over his health a lot, and when I'm stressing out, I tend to eat more than I should. So I will be working on making healthier food choices over time.

Hi, I'm Ali, and new to this team. I thought that this team would be very valuable for me. I am recovering from heart failure last October, and therefore need to weigh daily and call Cardiologist if my weight goes up or down more than three pounds. I certainly wish I could lose at least 3 pounds and get back on a losing track again.
My top weight was 316 and now it's 234.8 and won't budge. I have stayed this weight for the last 3-4 days, at least I haven't gained weight. My weight has been going up and down in the 230's, let's see what happens tomorrow morning. I have also recently increased my exercise and from next Monday on, I will exercise at least 20-30 minutes at least 3 times a week.
That feels right and good to make this 3x a week commitment for exercising, being a former couch potato emoticon . emoticon

Hey group, my name is Nicole. I am 30 yrs old. I have been a member on and off since 2008ish. I have had issues sticking with a program because I realized I wasn't doing this for me but for someone else. I have a hard time tracking but have gotten better about it.
I picked my name restart as a reminder that everyday is a new day.

Hello All.....I am not new to Spark, been on and off for some years now. I rejoined back in July of last year but never got active. I know this site works as long as you do what you need to. I feel I am finally at the point in my life where I am ready and determined to make changes for good. My name is Stephanie and I am 45. I am married and have 2 small children, a daughter who is 6 and a son who is 4. I need to get in shape and lose this weight because they need their mommy around a long time. Looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Stephanie
