New Years Resolution Update-progress report

Monday, February 01, 2021

Okay so the number one goal was wt loss and I can only report about a pound at this point emoticon Oh well. My blood pressure remains improved!! emoticon My other resolutions: Write 5 pages a week on my novel: Not necessarily happening page-wise but some important work on it has happened otherwise. I had to do some re-org and editing. Letters to Grandkids: I sent Februaries packs out last Friday. Very cool stuff. They live in Iowa and Nebraska. We are celebrating Mardi Gras through the mail. I put everything in a big manila envelope and mailed out 3 of them. There are 2 pre-teens and 2 preschoolers. All kids got Mardi Gras masks I found at the Dollar Tree. I printed out an age appropriate history of Mardi Gras for each kid, age appropriate coloring sheets and worksheets with Mardi Gras theme, a recipe for an easy king cake to bake with the kids. It is made from canned cinnamon rolls. I included plastic baby's for the cake. I also included the history of the King Cake for my little mid westerners (we don't celebrate much mardi gras so it is new to them). Packet also included some fun Valentines Stuff, and a personal letter from Me(Granny) with some words of wisdom. I ended the letters with a Granny approved recommendation for family friendly movies. My pick this month: The Princess Frog- set in New Orleans and My Louisiana Sky- A coming of age story of a 13 year old girl being raised by mentally disabled parents with the help of a grandmother and aunt. I stumbled across this movie on a free app. It is really good, I highly recommend it. I also recommend a box of kleenex emoticon It has some moments that pull at the heartstrings. It only cost me about $10 to fill and mail 3 envelopes and the kids love them!!! They are suppose to write me back. One does and that is great. On another note- I am knitting some Valentines days gifts for my Great neices and nephews as well as trying to learn to knit Toe-up two at a time socks, which is basically knitting 2 socks at once, starting at the toes, on one cable needle. It's easier than one would think. Here is a finished pair of socks (knitted separately) that I did for the baby I have a hat finished for the toddler and need to make a little pair of mittens and one hat for the other two. I have to have them mailed out in time for Valentines Day. I better get on it!! Hope you all have a great week!! Good luck on your journeys. Spark on!
