Goodbye 2020 Review

Sunday, January 03, 2021

2020 is a year that will never be forgotten and will have changed many things for lots of people. Some lost jobs, homes, friends, families and even social interactions. It brought others together in different ways and separate others in ways unimaginable. Depression has set in on lots of people and it is hard to understand the severity of the impact this past year had on everyone.

My family has been impacted in many different ways. MIL was in nursing home and we were not able to see her until September and only by appointment. She got COVID being in a nursing home, where they were so secluded, she survived only to pass away in November just less than 24 hours after we had been with her. She died peacefully, for which we are gratefully but are still dealing with her burial due to COVID.

We also sold our house of 20 years - down sizing - but this was done during the beginning of COVID and we just happened to move into our new home 2 weeks before the lockdowns. Unfortunately, I still feel that I have not been able to enjoy our new home due to the pandemic and all the stressed produced by it and life in general.

Then came the lockdown - I am a teacher and this has been the worse experience trying to teach 2nd graders from home. Yes we made it but it has been so hard. Those of you that are teachers will certainly understand. Then the new school year brought a hybrid model of teaching which again has been very hard and stressful. I am still teaching but not sure that I will return for the next school year.

So needless to say with so much going on my weight has just been out of control. So now i need to put 2020 in the books and look forward to new and better beginnings!! emoticon emoticon emoticon

I am committed to looking out for myself so that I can help those around me! I will stay positive and move forward no matter what the future brings.

This is my 2020 closing and opening up for 2021!!! emoticon emoticon

Bruni, I know this has been a very tough year for many essential workers and I don’t think teachers have been given enough credit for what they have been through. I think if I was getting close to retiring I just might call it quits too. Really, really don’t want to handle this stress anymore. As they say it is a young persons game.

I am so about all the stress in your family. It is so hard right now. My hubby has declined in the last 9 months and I know this pandemic has not helped but thank God he has stayed away from the virus. We are so careful but I still have to out to stores.

    Take care

Bruni, I know so many teachers who are planning to retire at the end of this school year. This is so tough.
And you have been through a lot. I hope things get better.

My son, who is a para at a high school working with special needs kids, has told me often just how challenging it is doing the hybrid schooling. I give you a lot of credit for keeping up! Our schools are suppose to open again Jan 18. The teachers have been approved to get the vaccine before that. I hope they can stay in school until spring.
