Day 304: Good day today!
Monday, September 21, 2020
Hi Everyone
The past 2 days I wrote about my 48-hour experience without caffeine. Thanks for all of the best wishes!
Given how long caffeine stays in your system, I think more than ever that it's good to take a break sometimes -- especially if you have caffeine after early morning. Otherwise with the 5-hour half life of caffeine (drink at 9am, 50% remains in system at 2pm, 25% remains at 7pm), this means that caffeine is in your system ALL THE TIME, which just doesn't seem like a good thing for such a powerful drug.
Today was great. I had .75 cups of coffee this morning (can you tell I used to be an accountant?) and that was it for the caffeine today. I noticed the coffee gave me more of a kick this morning after taking a break, which is another benefit of taking a break.
I also slept great once again last night. There might be a connection here :).
I think i'll stick at having between .5 and 1 cup in the morning, no caffeine after that, and then see if I keep having great sleep. If yes, maybe I'll take more breaks.
Yesterday was a good fitness day despite the withdrawal headache :). My highlight was jumping in the freezing 57 degree ocean for 23 minutes. I tried doing a good amount of swimming, but the waves were strong and kept hitting me.
I hope you had a good start to your week?
SparkCheers!
Chris
