The more I learn, the more I realize that most issues are multi-factorial.
Cravings often are triggered by the microflora in the gut. If the brain gets millions of messages to eat processed carbs, it makes sense to reach for processed carbs. However, most probiotics to reverse this don't get to the large intestine alive. (need to be spore form or micro encapsulated in a lipid).
With the SAD (Standard American Diet), micro-nutrients are often missing.
Also, many elements in the SAD can contribute to 'leaky gut'. The body doesn't readily have the ability to process these molecules leading to various diseases.
Unfortunately, these things are not usually taught in western medicine.
Naturopathic doctors are more aware of this.
Being aware allowed me to research solutions.
