A little over a month ago I badly sprained my ankle, ending a walking streak I was really proud of (643 days). I was SO hoping to reach a full 2 years. I was so frustrated, disappointed and angry that I gave my activity tracker to my DH and decided I would not use it again. I'm sticking with that decision.

I just started walking for exercise again, slowly. I'm doing up to 10" at a time, sometimes 3 times/day. The ankle is still swollen and sore, but much better than it was. I'm wearing an air cast when walking for exercise or when out of the house running errands. Around the house I wear a compression bandage or nothing at all.

I've been doing some strength exercises, upper and core, a couple times a week and just started trying some lower strength exercises this past week, very carefully.

One positive thing has come from spraining my ankle. Until this happened, I thought the activity tracker was the reason I was walking every morning before breakfast. When I gave it away and couldn't exercise, I actually missed walking each morning. I couldn't wait until the ankle felt better so I could restart my daily walks.

Now that I'm restarting my daily walks I'm not going to use a tracker again. I like knowing that I'm walking because I WANT to, that I'm doing this for me, and not doing it to add numbers to a tracker.
