Hello New Year!
Good bye to 2020! Looking ahead to better, friendlier. and healthier days.
Fall 20 I realize that it has been almost two years since I updated my Spark text. I am still here and am making progress. Although not perfect at times, I am still motivated and trying to stay consistent with tracking both nutrition and exercise.

J is for January. Where I live, January can be bleak, cold, and even a little depressing. When my daughters were small, we would designate one of the coldest days as January "J" Day. This was a day for us to play and to celebrate everything that began with the letter J. Joy, jacket, jam, jelly, jar, jumping jacks, etc. We had fun and forgot about the weather outside.
My journey to a healthier lifestyle is similar to the month of January. Sometimes it's been bleak and depressing, but it also has many things to celebrate. I've developed a love for walking and don't avoid exercise as much as I did a decade ago. I eat better (usually) and try to be joyful in all that I do. So, here's to jump starting January 2019.
Summer 2018: It's the start of a new season- summer! Winter and spring were tough for me to get through. I got careless with both my nutrition and exercise and gained weight. Looking forward to getting back to the 5% challenge and accountability.
January 2018 The above text is on my water bottle. It reminds me of my commitment to living healthy.
Summer 2017 Big improvements on my yearly check-up. Total cholesterol decreased from 257 to 223. I also surprised her with my flexibility. Strength training really pays off! Weight was only 1/2 pound less than last year; time to break out of this plateau and lose these remaining pounds!
January 2017 It's winter and it's cold in the upper midwest! I remind myself every morning as I get out of a warm bed and my feet hit the cold floor that I am the one responsible for making my day great.
Fall 2016 Feeling good about all my small successes and determined to continue on to goals!
Summer 2016 A combination of stress and lack of motivation has resulted in a 15 pound regain. My progress today is determined by my choices yesterday. Don' give up!
Spring 2016 Struggling with motivation recently. My best inspiration comes from following the activities and successes of my teammates. Looking forward to the start of spring and the opportunity to be outside more!
Winter 2016 Another year and another 5% challenge begins!
Fall 2015 Walking shoes are on and water bottle is filled. I'm ready to go!
Winter 2015 I'm motivated to continue my quest for good health (especially cholesterol numbers) by exercising daily and making healthy food choices. Looking forward to reaching my goal weight!
Fall 2014 Approaching my 4th sparkanniversary and also my goal weight! Loving every minute of my new lifestyle!
Summer 2014 Hello to summer. It's time to move more, go for long walks, and enjoy the sunshine!
Spring 2014 Fresh spring air never felt so good! I'm out to enjoy it!
Winter 2014 Nothing is impossible. I M Possible!
Fall 2013 The beautiful fall weather reflects the way I feel!
May 1, 2013 Still sparking and enjoying life! Lots of healthier habits have been achieved and still learning more!
July 3, 2012 One and one half years of sparking and I'm getting fit. One of my goals has been to hike to the top of the mountain you see here on my page. Last time I was at the top was in 1998. I'm headed to Norway next week and to the top. Photos posted later!
October 2011 I'm not the person that I used to be!
November 2010- I have intended to lose weight for several years. Well, the pounds kept increasing... from 10 to 20 to 30 to 40.... NO MORE! The wake-up call has come and the journey has begun!
