Every stage of life offers a new beginning. I have been working on the new mid-life me I want to put forward in the world since I turned 50 two years ago. To me the process is best described as "de-cluttering" because it means setting clear priorities and saying good-bye to the accumulated stuff that no longer has a place. A healthy lifestyle is about both body and spirit so I've been sorting and simplifying all the elements that nourish my life including food/ drink/ fitness as well as relationships and attitudes. I am still a work in progress but am now feeling that I want to join like-minded others embarking on a journey even if their path is not just like mine. This is the "spark" that keeps the process moving and evergreen.

To me, pursuing a healthy lifestyle can be very creative and exciting but of course there can be no "highs" without the "lows". Boiling it down to a few guiding principles - in other words, making it simple - means it is easier to keep your focus. Suddenly the ups and downs are much less complicated to deal with. You don't sweat the details because you can see they are just clutter and life is much too precious to let them get in the way of the new you emerging. Keep the vision before you, clear a place for it in your heart and see what happens...

We face many transitions in our life before we turn 50. The great thing about 50 is we can draw on all the prior stages we've lived through and learn from them. One of the lessons I have learned is that every one has a life story, character is not given but wrought, and there is nothing better at nourishing a life than listening. Knowing what an awesome task all you Sparkpeople are engaged in, I can only say you have my ear and my respect.

I hope to add pictures soon.
