If A Goal is Worthwhile It doesn't Matter How Long it Takes to Reach It
BE EVER VIGILANT
CONSISTENCY AND PERSISTENCE ARE THE GOALS - PERFECTION IS NEVER THE ANSWER. ACCEPTANCE AND MOVING FORWARD ARE.
YOU CHOOSE WHAT TO EAT - DON'T LET THE FOOD OR YOUR EMOTIONS MAKE THAT DECISION FOR YOU.
YOU CANNOT OUT EXERCISE A POOR DIET.
Whatever path you choose don't expect someone else to pave it for you .
Failing is only failure if you quit.

I lost 35 pounds on Spark in 7 months. I felt great - confident, healthy. I thought that I had learned how to eat moderately and with good nutrition in mind. But it was so easy to fall back into old eating habits when the stress began and the novelty of eating well and being at goal wore off. Now it is a struggle to lose the 10 pounds that I regained and to really make it about moderation and consistency. This is the tough part of this journey - where the proverbial pedal meets the medal. Realizing that the chips and crackers are not there for stress reduction. That exercise is forever.
It is about me because I am the only person responsible for eating and becoming active. No excuses, blaming, just personal responsibility for healthy decisions. And I want to be healthy for me because I want to feel like I am worth taking care of.
I am 54 and struggle with anxiety issues. I have always struggled with my weight especially since having children and that just feeds into my low opinion of myself. I am hoping to become healthier in mind and spirit. I don't want this to become a diet where I lose weight only to gain it back when the diet ends or my motivation does - Like the last ten times. I want this to become a life long way to live and to connect to other people who share this struggle.

My Goals:
My goal is to lose 35 pounds and become more mindful about what I eat and how I care for my body. Short term goals:
5 pounds - done
10 pounds - Easter - done javascript:%20void(0);
15 pounds - Daughter Graduation done
20 pounds - new goal for graduation - done
25 pounds - July 4th Family Reunion - done
30 pounds - August
vacation
NEW - 33 pounds - Vacation - 148 - one pound shy of goal. Oh well it is summer.
Each five pounds - try on old clothes to see if they fit. - I am obsessively doing this weekly so this is a stupid goal - but fun.
My Program:
Eating - I am really trying to become mindful about what I eat. I don't crave sweets but salty crunchy is my downfall. I am looking for ways to work around those cravings by eating smaller meals and just saying no to food after dinner.
Exercise - Whatever I am capable of after my 2 year rehab and really whatever I can bring myself to do. Mainly Treadmill and Elliptical for cardio. Mainly resistance bands for strength. I am trying to combine intervals of cardio with intervals of bands to have a high cardio strength workout.
Personal Information:
I am 54 and 5'7"
I am originally from Delaware but now live in Maryland near DC. I am married and have three children. Two are in college and one is still home with me in high school but he is a junior so we are looking at colleges. I love my cat, Jordan, and the beaches in Delaware. I also like to read and watch tv.
