I Started SP the end of Jan. 2009. Briefly, I have always had some issues with my weight. I had had some success with diets, most notably WW where I was able to get down to 138 very briefly and settled into 143 comfortably. My lifetime WW weight goal was 153 which was easily bypassed at that time.

Sadly, I made the huge dieters mistake of thinking of it as something with a beginning and an end and once I was no longer tracking all my food and exercise I fell back into old habits.

So in the years after WW I struggled just to keep from zooming totally out of control.

When I found SP in Jan. I was determined that this was not a diet. A beginning yes....the first day of the rest of my life sort of thing....but no end....this is a healthy lifestyle quest and it has to be habits that last forever. So at this point, I haven't met my weight goal quite yet....I have met a lot of fitness and appearance goals and I have met myself metaphorically and I really like this new friend.

Now we're starting a new year...at the end of January this Spark journey will be in it's tenth year! Have there been ups and downs? Most assuredly! But I have been consistently working toward the best me I can be. I met my weight goal on SP, regained a bit but stayed withing that old WW lifetime wt. goal. More recently, I decided I needed to reapply my focus and get the wt. down to where I want it to be. I'm following an IF plan of eating only during the hours of 10AM to 6PM. No night time eating has gotten me out of the plateau and on my way again.

1 Drink at least 8 glasses of water /day
2-Measure and track all food- increase sv of wh. grains & fish.
3-ST with spec attn to core.
4- stretch with spec attn to IT band and Plantar fascia.

5- eat only between 10AM and 6PM

My name is Donna, soon to be 67 yr old retired cardiac nurse, married for47 years to my best friend. Husband and I worked together on a private railcar (our retirement dream job) for ten years. Now we're retired again. LOL

    I turned 70 last August my BIL and baby sister were here for my big birthday celebration as was my youngest brother. He wanted to go to Belgium too but he started a new job last summer and has less vacation time and less income, but better health insurance.
    Sometimes being the eldest of ten, eight remaining (but have those nieces and nephews) is stressful.I just take a deep Yoga breath and put one foot in front of the other and pray a LOT. emoticon emoticon

    I am going with two of my younger siblings. Vanessa has never been and has wanted to go meet our relatives over there. Her hubby has been telling me for years, “ the next time you go you need to take Vanessa” but he was always spending their money and she couldn’t afford to join me and I couldn’t afford to pay for her. This summer my BIL ,on my 70 th birthday, added “your not getting any younger “ to his usual statement. But this time I spoke up and told him if he would stop spending money all the time maybe she could go! I was a bit ticked off at him.
    We still have two aunts alive in their 90s. Vaughn one of my four brothers wanted to go too, he was 3 when we went with my mom in 1959. After my grandmother passed mom didn’t take all her children home anymore. The two youngest ones never had the opportunity.
    We are not taking Erik, it is a siblings trip and I want to be free to walk through mom’s hometown and some special places, Dinant, Bastogne, Durbuy.... emoticon emoticon

    Hope you are doing well, I see you are steadily advancing in fitness minutes. Good job Donna.
    I am trying to get myself back on track, and lose 12 pounds by May 1st. Then stay steady in Belgium, after which I will work to take off another 10 before my 71st birthday mid August.
    In April it will be my 9th Sparkversary . I did so well until I retired and became my son’s full time primary care giver.
